ZETA Communities (ZETA), a modular building company specializing in producing net zero energy (NZE) structures, today announced the ground breaking of an affordable, 22-home, NZE community. The Tierra del Sol project was developed by Visionary Home Builders, a local nonproft, in conjunction with the county of San Joaquin and the Department of Energy “Building America” partner, ConSol.
Visionary Home Builders and San Joaquin County selected ZETA because of its benefits over traditional construction including: 70% less time to build. The houses are delivered to the mass market at an affordable price and offer lower lower operating costs. In fact, according to ZETA, these high-quality homes can save occupants up to $2,000 per year on their PG&E bills.
ZETA is achieving Tierra del Sol’s NZE and resource conservation goals by decreasing the overall energy consumption by 45%; efficient water heating, space heating/cooling and lighting; Energy Star appliances; low water usage fixtures and recycled and sustainable finishes; energy production by solar panels; non-toxic cabinets and finishes, non-toxic paints, and proper ventilation and air circulation.
To demonstrate ZETA’s commitment to invest in local communities, the company is offering qualified workers the unique opportunity to participate in an employee down payment assistance, homeownership program. This will enable ZETA’s factory workers to buy the Tierra del Sol homes that they are building.
“This project demonstrates that new, affordable, energy-efficient, healthy homes are a bright spot in the depressed housing industry,” says Naomi Porat, CEO, ZETA Communities. “Our factory production lines are full; we’re hiring 50 additional skilled workers; and we are expanding rapidly to meet current demand for housing, schools, and mixed-use developments throughout the Western United States.”
