One of the problems with low-VOC and no-VOC paints is that you too often don't know what the volatile compounds were replaced with. Could the new mixture be even more toxic, but less documentable?
A new paint line, Quiet Home Paints, publishes a list of toxins NOT used in its coating mixtures. The list includes: solvents and white spirit, formaldehyde, heavy metals and many other lesser known health hazards. We asked for a sample of the paint and found that it performs well, coating walls nicely with two coats and virtually no odor. Designed especially for use in nurseries and schools, it's also available in a chalkboard finish.
