We singled out this piece of equipment for couple of reasons. First, it does two things at once—dehumidifying indoor air, at the same time ventilating the tight building shell. Unlike standalone dehumidifiers, which tend to use too much energy to remove too little moisture (see “Moisture Problem? Blame the Builder” below), the Ultra-Aire XT150H unit is a whole house solution. Not only is it Energy Star rated, operating on just 6.9 amps, but it removes up to 150 pints of water, enough to handle even a 2,500-square-foot home with a damp basement.
