There’s something awe-inspiring about watching 300-pound glass doors being moved around with no effort whatsoever. At Kolbe and Kolbe’s booth at the show, a demonstration of the TerraSpan Lift and Slide Doors, showed how easy it is to provide complete ventilation (not to mention views) for your home buyers.
The handle of the door turns to lift it off the weather sealing, and then each door collects the next until it stows into the wall.
A unique feature of the system is a pocket cover that conceals the wall opening when the door is open. When the door is pushed into the pocket, the cover slides back with it.
Thermal breaks in the frame head and side jambs and door panel promote energy efficiency. The sills come with thermal breaks as well. The panel heights run from 78”–144” and the widths run 30”–72”.
The doors come in pine as standard, but you can also spec Alder, Fir, Oak, Cherry, Maple, Walnut, Mahogany, and others. Many of these are FSC certified. Many exterior finishes are available as well as anodized metallic finishes.
It’s worth watching this door in action. Watch the company’s brief video at:
