ThermoBlock is a stay-in-place concrete-form system that uses a combination of inter-locking, stackable polyurethane foam blocks, reinforcing steel rebar, and steel studs (inserted in the wall as straighteners and stabilizers) to make a concrete-form system. The Thermo-Block cavities (cells) are grouted with concrete to form a concrete post framework that is tied together by continuous concrete bond beams. For light-duty walls, you don’t have to fill every cell with concrete. The structural strength of ThermoBlock, combined with up to R-38 insulation values, can make this stay-in-place form a cost-effective alternative for basements and stem walls. Because the forms are made of polyurethane—not EPS (Styrofoam)—there is a wider range of solvents you can use when finishing out the wall. Compatible waterproofing systems offered by ThermoBlock provide excellent protection against moisture and water infiltration.
