Temple-Inland has added another new product to its GreenGlass family: GreenGlass tile backer. The product offers moisture and mold protection, which is critical in high moisture or humidity areas. The product also boasts recycled content. Consider this product for walls, ceilings, shower and tub enclosures, countertops, laundry and utility rooms. GreenGlass features a built-in moisture-blocking acrylic coating that resists water penetration through its surface, plus a water-resistant gypsum core formulated to include the TemShield Mold Protection System. Faced on both sides with naturally mold- and moisture-resistant fiberglass mats, this combination has been shown to be highly mold resistant when tested per ASTM D3273. It is available in 1/4", 1/2" and 5/8" thicknesses, a 48" width and both 8’ and 10’ lengths, GreenGlass scores and snaps like traditional gypsum board and offers improved fiberglass encapsulation for easy handling. It also eliminates the need for installing a separate water-proof membrane which is often required with cement-based products.
