The GE Hybrid Heat Pump Water Heater extractx the heat from the air around the hot water tank and preheats that water, greatly reducing the fossil fuel energy required to get it to shower-ready.
GE designed the tank to fit in the footprint of the old 50 gallon units that are so common, so it’s an easy retrofit when electric tanks fail. It was also the first Energy Star–rated hybrid.
