SnapStone and Avaire Interlocking Tile Flooring

4/6/2010

SnapStone offers a snap-together porcelain (ceramic) tile system.

At the heart of SnapStone is an interlocking plastic tray that locks the individual tiles together, creating a floating floor system that can be installed quickly, easily, and affordably. The company also produces Avaire, a similar line of interlocking floating tile flooring products. Both the SnapStone and Avaire lines employ an interlocking plastic tray backing that minimizes prep work: They install easily over any hard surface, including existing vinyl, concrete, and hardwood floors, and there’s no need for messy thinset.

Both products are water resistant, making them ideal for foyers, bathrooms, and kitchens, and the system is compatible with QuietWarmth radiant heating for added comfort. SnapStone’s plastic tray backing provides sound-dampening properties that meet the needs of condominium and apartment owners. Because the system is a floating floor—the tiles are not actually attached to the subfloor—the tiles can even be installed over less-than-perfect subfloor conditions and are designed to prevent and isolate cracking as the substructure shifts, which happens in most buildings under normal conditions.

A specially-formulated flexible grout is designed to allow the floor to float gracefully, without the risk of cracks and other damage caused when a portion of the subfloor moves ever so slightly. SnapStone is backed by a 10-year limited warranty to ensure outstanding performance and long-term satisfaction. Avaire is available in three lines: Standard, with a 5-year limited warranty; Choice, with a 10-year limited warranty; and Select, with a 20-year limited warranty.

Another plus is that the tiles can be disassembled and reused, making it the only reusable tile available on the market today. This sustainability ensures a lifetime of beauty and enjoyment from a one-time investment.

And, because the system can be installed over existing floors, SnapStone helps keep flooring materials out of landfills. The quick and easy installation virtually eliminates airborne environmental hazards associated with traditional tile installation—no dust and chemical fumes from mixing adhesives and thinset and no dust from the removal of existing floors.

SnapStone and Avaire come in eight colors and in 12” x 12” and 6” x 6” tile sizes, with a larger 18” x 18” Avaire tile also available. You can choose from three complementary grout colors. www.avairefloors.com or www.snapstone.com
