This year’s award-winning homes reflect a renewed emphasis on the most basic and essential aspects of sustainability: sensitivity to local ecology, clever siting, optimal use of local resources and details that help people live without as much dependence on mechanical “prosthetics.”  We selected this year’s three judges with the term “collaboration” in mind.  Young, hip, and successful—they put a special emphasis on livability. That’s a theme you’ll see repeated in their 10 winning selections. We had a record number of entries this year, and we’ll be featuring other outstanding homes from this competition throughout the coming year.
