I remember having a car in college. As great as it was there were also moments of driving around and around the block looking for a parking space (in my permit area) or paying insane amounts of money for a monthly parking space.
I wish there had been options like Zipcar back then. "Zipsters" use the service as an alternative to the costs and hassles of owning or renting a car. If you only need a car occasionally you should check this service out and see if it works for you.

I also owned a great used bike while I was in college. I would ride it across campus when walking was going to take too long (ok, and truthfully for those early am classes when I slept too late). I loved riding that bike. That is until it was stolen off my front porch in broad daylight.
With two roommates we did not have room for bikes in our apartment. I wish I would have had a folding bike like a Tern. I have to admit I've never tried one but they look really cool! These bikes fold up and offer some great accessories like racks and luggage bags. And of course, they are much easier to store than a regular bike.

To really get extravagant you can look into fractional jet ownership. You know, for those times when owning your own jet just doesn't seem reasonable. :)
A lot of companies are coming up with ways to make travel easier, more economical and greener. We'd love to hear your experiences and ideas - what works and what doesn't. Happy green travels Green Chix!
