We're here at IBS, scouting product. Here's a winner: Soy-based spray-in foam from Gaco Wallfoam.
Until recently, Gaco Wallfoam was a regional brand. The company has been around since 1955, so why had we never heard of their spray foam insulation? Tom Sojack, VP of Sales, explained that it's because until recently, the product hadn't been available nationally. "The only place we haven't penetrated at this point is California," he notes, "but we're currently expanding there as well."
Two things make Gaco's "Two Pound" closed cell foam one of our editor picks for IBS. First, it contains both recycled and renewable content. It's about 12 percent recycled plastics, plus another 6 percent soy and fructose materials. While we hope they push those numbers higher, the product has very high insulating value. The only competitor that also uses soy-based ingredients is Biobased foam.Gaco typically joins contractors on site for the first installation, and lets them learn by doing. More info.
