Welcome ICC!

Thanks to ICC for selecting Green Builder Media as its primary media source for information about the rapidly evolving world of green design and construction. We're happy to have the opportunity to expand our relationship with the ICC and its members.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the ICC, it is an organization dedicated to building safety, fire prevention, and energy efficiency that develops construction codes for residential and commercial buildings. Earlier this year, the ICC formed the Sustainable Building Technology Committee (SBTC), which is developing the International Green Construction Code (IGCC)-the first code to be developed for high-performance commercial buildings.

We get firsthand reports about the SBTC's progress from Green Builder Media Editorial Director Ron Jones, who serves on the committee. Jones reports that the ICC is making substantial steps toward its goal of creating a safe, enforceable green code. Jones, a licensed general contractor for more than 25 years, served as chair of the consensus committee that successfully developed the National Association of Home Builders and ICC's National Green Building Standard (also known as ICC 700-2008), which was approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in January.

To find out more about the IGCC and the activities of the SBTC, visit www.iccsafe.org/igcc.
